We reported earlier this week that Prince had apparently put a ban on allowing his old pal and longtime music colleague Whitney Houston into any more of his concerts because of Houston's allegedly errative behavior. Now it sounds like Prince has put the smack down on his staff, demanding to know who kicked Whitney out because it definitely wasn't him.

The Purple One's relationship with Whitney Houston was said to have gone black-and-blue after Houston showed up at several recent Prince concerts behaving like a total loon. Whitney and her daughter, Bobbi, were videotaped dancing and singing enthusiastically to Prince songs, but it didn't seem as though their behavior was exactly off-the-charts enough to warrant a ban on Whitney's attendance!

That's why we were so shocked to hear that Prince's people had blocked Whitney Houston from coming to any more shows. Turns out we weren't the only ones wondering how the heck Prince could pass such judgment -- he himself wants to know who kicked Whitney Houston out of his shows. Sounds like it was Prince's people who cracked down on Whitney, but Prince has released a statement making his position very clear: "She's always welcome 4 all of eternity."

And considering the fact that Prince recently took Whitney to hang out backstage, somebody flubbed up their job -- says a source, "Someone could have taken it upon themselves to say Whitney was banned ... but it did not come from Prince. Whoever decided Whitney was banned did not have the authority to do so."
